Having More Fun Than Chickens...?!
I'm
Mark Andrews, AKA "The Chickenman", was born in Richmond, Virginia
(November 29th, 1955) and grew up in Raleigh, NC. After graduating
from North Carolina State University in 1980, he began a career as a
handyman by repairing homes (powerwashing, painting and carpentry). In
1988, a co-worker's truck broke down (Roger Cook) and needed a ride back
and forth to work. When Mark offered to help, he discovered some fluffy
little chickens on the farm where Roger stayed. Everyone started to call
Mark "Chickenman" because he was the one contractor who carried chickens
to work with him.
Those first two Japanese White Silkie Bantam chickens (Aquila and Priscilla) would accompany Mark wherever he would go, on the steering wheel of his converted 1977 Frito-Lay delivery truck, or in the shopping cart of the supply stores. In the year 2000 people started requesting the "Chickenman" to entertain at birthday parties and special events. With a spray can, Andrews painted his new website on the side of that old "tater chip" truck. Now the world was informed of "how a chicken can change your life!"
The rest is history with the chickens performing before the Governor of NC, Animal Planet, Ripley's Believe It or Not!, and even a guest appearance on the John Boy and Billy Big Show radio program. Things really got exciting when the Chickenman married the "Chickenwoman" (Ginger) accompanied by the "Chickengirl" (Mary) in July 2001. "Chicken Scratch", the theme song about the Chickenman was recorded in 2003. Now the DVD "Chickens Gone Wild" (a fundraiser for Chicken Scratch Ministries) is available. You can enjoy watching the chickens doing their thing: flippin', go kartin', 4-wheelin', gettin' their hair cut, shopping for chicken shoes, and even being chased by the police. YOU WILL HAVE MORE FUN WITH CHICKENS THAN SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO HAVE!! And even better, have the Chickenman and his chicken show come to your next special occasion. Sponsorships and donations are welcome and appreciated.
